It seems like there is a general lack of information about being a tools programmer on the internet. I'm interested in becoming a tools programmer for video game companies but I don't know where to start. I've been learning python and c# for 2 years now and was wondering what are some important things a good tools programmer should know (math/practical algorithms/languages etc). How come there aren't books on tools programming but there are for say engines or game programming? How come it's not as glamorized?
