do i need a middleware layer to send code or what?

i have 5 cortex M407VG connect via CAN bus , have same RTOS one of those boards need to send a function (piece of code) to other boards to be executed and return back the result. my RTOS kernel was written in C advise me where to start and what topic to read about or how to do it??
