I remember seeing a while ago on Hacker News a project that was meant to be a universal style formatting generator. You would configure one file that stated all the formatting styles that would be used by a team. It would generate various format files that could work with a huge array of different editors and IDE's.
Does anyone know a product like this, or what the product I am thinking of actually is?
When working with a group of programmers, all with different IDE's, and people who are more novice, it is much easier to give a file they can import in their IDE to manage the style, than to get them to all setup their IDE's settings correctly so that it conforms to the standards.
Or alternatively, is there a program that could be run that formats and cleans up the code? Basically something a user would run before pushing their code.
