passing objects to intent

Why there is no option to pass non-serializable objects as intent extra to activity? Is there some memory management issue or lifecycle issue?

NOTE

This is not a subjective question. I am looking for an answer why Android team made this design decision, since serialization is not always possible and it causes overhead
