How to learn from the official documentation? [on hold]

I have seen people posting the reference links in some questions, these links link to the official documentation.

For Eg: Java API Documentation

My Question

The doc is full of methods and classes, If I take a topic say Swing and in that a class say a topic JPanel,

now this consists only of the methods, As beginner where I must start to read the documentation ?
