Why Java is more demanded than C language?

I'd greatly appreciate a response on the following question relating to C language.

After giving interviews in many companies, I only conclude that C language is only school level programming language. Companies level programming language is Java, .NET.. etc.

Is i'am right??

We know that C is the mother or father of every language(except some). Then why C is less Demanded than other languages??
