Improve WinRT Apps Performance

I have a WinRT application that contains a large amount of data. Each time i enter a page it took more than 5 seconds to load the data. My question is the next: is there any way to improve data loading. I'm using SQLite, MVVM Light and windows 8.1 My question is general, so any tips can help.
