I have a pos program that can print to any windows printer installed, send text out to a com port, or write text to a .txt or other text file in windows. I want to integrate the POS with surveillance system. The surveillance software wants a serial ascii stream over the network. Anyone know of a program that can take a text file and convert it to ascii and send it over a tcp port that I can then pick up with my surveillance software? Or maybe another way would be to have the pos send data to a virtual com port and then somehow pickup that com port from the surveillance software on the local network.
