Spring and MongoDB

I am about to ask arguably an opinion based question. I'm interested into using MongoDB for a work project. I have been so far looking at Hibernate OGM as a provider, but have recently looked at using Spring to front this technology. It seems, as first glance, that Spring offers a lot of functionality not inherent to the NoSQL setup. We already use Spring heavily. Can anyone comment on the maturity of Hibernate OGM vs Spring? Does Spring affect performance when fronting NoSQL technology?
