Some background, I'm a sophomore in college that is just starting my CS major track (started late, just finished an intro course where we learned basic Python and I'm going to take Data Structures in the Spring, we will be using Java). I would really like to work for a medium sized startup out of college, perhaps I have a lot of catchup to do though.
What is the difference in skillset that a potential hire should have for a startup as opposed to a large company?
Furthermore, what could I be doing outside of class to gain the sort of experience that would make me an asset to a small company? I'd like to be able to hunt for technical summer internships as soon as possible.
