I am taking a course in C++ programming and have been tasked with writing a command line application that makes extensive use of object orientated programming and advanced features like templating, using no external libraries. I have been reading with interest about genetic algorithms and their power in optimising problems with large search spaces, and so I've been thinking about how I could implement this in my project.
Ideally, the project will be relatively small (probably ~1000 lines) and suitable for someone with a good grasp of C++ but not near professional level (I am taking somewhat of an introductory course in the language after all).
I would be very interested to hear anyone's thoughts about project ideas.
