I know the subject sounds very negative but that is the impression i'm getting in my current job.
A deadline has been barked down from the top with no consideration for planning or estimation, team leaders are getting all red faced and checking up on progress every day when previously there would be a few standups a week. There's talk of 'head down bum up' (I'm aussie, that's slang for 'work hard') as though we don't already work hard at our jobs.
Now that I've encountered this many times in my work, my hope of finding somewhere that runs project to not stress out and squeeze developers is running thin. (I must sound pretty jaded or burnt out). The reason I'm asking is i'm questioning my profession.
So my question is, have you worked on a well run project? and do you think is it common?
