Good resource for API design

Is there a recommended book/resource that shows how to design a production quality API design? I look at stripe as one of the folks that provide a very good quality API with mature documentation.

I'm looking for a resource that takes an example model, for example, a grocery store. And walks the reader as to how to go about designing an API and implementing the design.
