So I've been designing and developing websites for about 10 years now, keeping up to date on all of the principles and best practices and so on. I've never done any work in the field professionally because I work for a Java company where we do mostly application based development. A friend of mine knows I have been making a lot of side projects and has asked that I make a family member of her's a website for their restaurant. She has seen some of my projects and likes the look of them, so I don't think that would be an issue.
Of course I would love to be helpful, and give them a nice deal and everything, but I also know the horror stories of freelance web development. Is it usually easy to work with friends, or should I turn her down politely?
Also I've begun looking of common rates for freelance web development, however it seems like most of the numbers are for freelancers trying to make a living. Should I drop it a bit, since it's more just about helping them out?
