Frontend "Design Patterns"

I've been trying to develop website front-ends for a while now, after around 6 years of experience with non-web software (mostly C++). Large systems, so maintainable software.

I'm mostly self-taught and while I'd like to think I understand CSS itself, what I don't understand is how to come up with a design philosophy behind a webpage front-end. I wonder if there is a good book on front-end design that treats this subject like "Design Patterns" (http://ift.tt/RqH7mp). To give an obvious example- I would say, use margins to separate multiple instances of same components (among other uses). Are there any books that deal with this topic, along with non-obvious examples? I've read Duckett's book (Amazon bestseller) and its just syntax, nothing special at all.

I use Sass for CSS, although I'm just looking for suggestions on how to create building blocks, so the meta language over CSS shouldn't matter.
