Vagrant and android emulator

I am wondering how other devs use Vagrant and android emulators for testing. Is it possible to run android emulator inside a virtual machine, I mean is it usable for testing, or its just too slow? Are there some good alternatives to Vagrant for android development? All I found so far are some workarounds, such as running development environment on one VM and emulator on another one.
